| [/left]First I’d like to thank the folks who thought about and support this forum. It is really a good idea to get people especially in academia to talk together and exchange their ideas. Second, I’d like to introduce myself. I’m a faculty member in the department of soil science, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University. Currently, I’m working as a research associate with Oregon State University. I’m interested in soil Pedology, Soil landscape analysis, remote sensing, and GIS (no wonder to use Mollisols as a user ID, it is part of my interest). If you are not familiar with the US soil taxonomy here is what Mollisols mean. Mollisols are the soils of grassland ecosystems. They are characterized by a thick, dark surface horizon. This fertile surface horizon, known as a mollic epipedon, results from the long-term addition of organic materials derived from plant roots. Mollisols are among some of the most important and productive agricultural soils in the world and are extensively used for this purpose. Mollisols are divided into 8 suborders: Albolls, Aquolls, Rendolls, Gelolls, Cryolls, Xerolls, Ustolls, and Udolls. In abstract Mollisols means a good soil (Alard AlTaibah) | |
